Design modifications to the parking structure and lots to meet ADA compliance standards

To support student and faculty parking needs during the construction of a new parking structure, EES designed modifications to the existing parking structure and exterior parking lots to bring the campus closer to compliance with the current Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG). The project required topographic surveys of the existing lots and accessible pathways. EES reconfigured the existing stalls and provided design documents for the construction of new curb ramps and pathway modifications in order to maximize the available parking while still complying with the ADAAG.

Traffic Signal

& Installation

San Bernardino Municipal Water Department

In 2015, EES provided comprehensive design services for the installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Chandler Place at “E” Street in the City of San Bernardino. The project owner was the San Bernardino Municipal Water Department and EES’ scope of work included the plans, specifications, and estimates for the project. The traffic signal design accommodated dedicated lanes for Omnitrans’ new sBX bus line and provisions for custom signal heads for the transit buses. Surveying services were also contracted to EES, which included a design topographic survey and utility mapping from atlas records and field observations.

Redesign of pedestrian walkways and parking lot areas on the Cal-Poly campus for ADA compliance

Projects included the redesign of pedestrian walkways and parking lot areas on the California Polytechnic University Pomona campus for ADA compliance. Our assignment was to prepare PS&Es for several projects that are part of an ongoing effort by Cal-Poly to improve campus accessibility for disabled students, faculty, and visitors. The services provided included topographic surveys; ADA evaluations of existing features; design plans for ADA compliant walkways, ramps, parking lots, and other features; quantity calculations and estimates; and demolition plans.

Design services for new parking lot construction and design modifications to existing traffic controls

EES was contracted to provide design services for the construction of a new parking lot at the intersection of Valley Blvd at Kellogg Dr in the City of Pomona. The contract also included the design of modifications to existing traffic control on Kellogg Dr to support the new lot and bring the facility into compliance with the 2016 CA MUTCD. EES services, which included the design topographic survey, construction staking, and PS&Es, could not begin until after Cal-Poly's Spring Quarter, and were completed in time for construction of the new lot to be finished before the start of the Fall Quarter.
